The Mercedes-Benz Vision EQS was my first published project as an Exterior Designer at Mercedes-Benz, a concept car scheduled for the 2019 Frankfurt Auto Show.
Within a timeframe of 10 months, the design process went from conceptual sketches, a pre-study quarterscale-model and a full-scale clay model over to the fully driveable final car.
Above: Early conceptual pre-study model. The flexible bodyside was soon abandoned, but the colour-split made it to the final model. Once separating the two “shells”, it now served the purpose of visually structuring the fluid volumes and making the seamless transition from DLO to body possible.
The wrapped/painted full-scale clay model with a wall of my sketches from different stages of the project. The initial gold-black colour combo was scrapped for a more classic “alubeam”-silver during the process.
