In Summer 2018, I revisited the rural and generally very liberal state of Vermont where I had spent a year more than a decade before.
The idea was to visit truly traditional festivities. I ended up at a parade and a truck pull event in the small town of Barton, located at the very northeast edge of the United States. I was staggered by the contrasts and Martin-Parr-ish moments I encountered, but I tried to keep the revelations on the subtle side.
